Pharmacy Technician

Program Description

Every day, more and medications are being developed to treat various health conditions. Along with that comes a need for people qualified to identify and distribute these medications to the general public. And that’s why a career as a pharmacy technician is so promising.

What You Can Earn

Pharmacy technicians are in great demand, and the employment rate of pharmacy technicians is expected to increase faster than average for all occupations, with a projected growth rate of 28.8% by the year 2012. Median annual salary for pharmacy technicians is currently $23,650.*

More and more pharmacy technicians will be needed in the near future, due to the increased pharmaceutical needs of a larger and older population, and the greater use of medication. Cost conscious insurers, pharmacies and health systems will continue to emphasize the role of technicians, who will increasingly be called upon to assume responsibilities previously performed by pharmacists. This can only lead to an increase in earnings.
